Making inroads
Interest of US companies in Indian defence market

Though the revived post cold war India-US defence relations are only a decade old and hence a comparatively new entrant in Indian defence market, the track record of US arms companies vis a vis India can be said to be excellent and future very bright.

The US companies have already begun threatening and replacing India’s traditional arms suppliers, who on the strength of newfound strategic partnership energized by the Indo-US nuclear cooperation agreement have staked a claim in India’s defence acquisitions.

The latest defence cooperation agreement signed during the visit of Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to Washington in late September will further reinforce defence supply relations with US.
